Raising money for MNDA
Motor Neurone Disease Association

Ellie running

My dad, David, and I have run the Clarendon marathon on a number of occasions. My Dad has run the relay marathon four times and I have done the half marathon twice.

This year, we will be running to raise money for MNDA, which is a charity close to our hearts. My maternal grandfather, Eric, died of the disease when I was little, and as a family we have seen both how debilitating and horrible a disease it is as well as the excellent work MNDA is doing to try and find a cure and improve the lives of those living with motor neurone disease.

In 2021 we ran in aid of MNDA - my Dad ran with a team of his school friends (David Witherspoon, Dale Halford and Andrew Atkinson) in memory of their classmate, Craig Smith, who had recently died of MND. I ran in memory of my grandfather, Eric. As a combined team we raised over £3500!

The Clarendon is a fantastic event - irrespective of the weather. This year, I have challenged myself and my Dad to run the whole Marathon together - before he turns 60 and I turn 25 next year!

We are both rather nervous at the prospect of running the whole thing, but we are looking forward to the event this October. Any support, either cheering us on while we run or by donating to the charity would be very much appreciated.
